Professional info
I am an evolutionary microbiologist specialized in single-celled eukaryotes collectively called Protists. My scope is eukaryotic evolution and protist diversity. Although my skill set includes molecular sequencing and phylogenetic analyses, I'm a protist hunter at heart. I do everything from going to the field, to establish culture strains, to investigate them using various kinds of microscopy and molecular analyses and so on. What's on my plate varies time to time depending of the discoveries I'm stumble upon, but surely they are exciting!

2013 - on going
- We're a winner of UBC Faculty of Science Outreach Grant Competition 2013, our project is generously funded by UBC Faculty of Science and Department of Botany!
We're creating a YouTube channel that feature microbes in our everyday world from ecological/community perspective. This summer we're filming all over UBC and Greater Vancouver area, hunting our microscopic neighbours! I'll post the link here too!
